LWDC Rules & Regulations
Visitors are welcome, please just call us ahead of time to let us know to expect you.
All Club Members and Visitors must sign a Waiver of Liability before being permitted to participate in LWDC training or events.
All Club Members and Visitors must keep their dog(s) under their immediate control at all times.
Dogs are not permitted to run free and must be on-leash except when specifically working on off-lead training exercises, at which time the dog must remain in the handler’s control.
Club Members and Visitors bear sole responsibility for any damage to person, other animal, or property caused by their dog(s).
All dogs must be kept secure in a crate or vehicle when not actively participating in training.
All dogs must be kept a respectable distance from one another and are not permitted to socialize with one another during training without the express permission of the president or training director of LWDC.
Abusive training methods will not be tolerated.
The consumption of alcoholic beverages during training or events is prohibited.
All dogs over six (6) months of age must be current on rabies vaccines, as required under Michigan State Law.
All Club Members and Visitors are expected to respect the health of one another's dogs, and not bring to training or events any dogs showing signs of potentially contagious illness, disease, or parasite infestation.
All Club Members and Visitors are responsible for picking up after themselves and their dogs.
All Club Members and Visitors must ensure that they and their dogs do not stray past the boundaries of the training grounds and public access areas onto neighboring private property.
Club Members, Visitors, and their dogs, are not permitted to approach or interact with other animals and livestock residing on the private property that serves as host to the LWDC training grounds without the express permission and accompaniment by the owner(s) of said animals and livestock.
Club members are expected to be actively training toward the achievement of SchH and/or SDA titles, and to maintain regular attendance and participation in all relevant phases.
Club Members may regularly work only one (1) dog until they have met the requirement of having titled a raw dog to the level of SchH1 or SDA PD1 or SDA P2. Once this training experience requirement has been met, and upon approval of the training director, Club Members may work up to three (3) dogs in any and all phases.
Visitors may work dogs with the permission of the training director, and are limited to a maximum of two (2) dogs per visitation.
LWDC reserves the right to refuse participatation to any dog that displays unpredictable, dangerous or antisocial behavior toward people or other dogs.
Children under the age of 16 are permitted to attend LWDC training or events ONLY if they are under the direct supervision of a parent/guardian at all times. Unless actively participating as a dog handler, any children in attendance must be kept to the sidelines and are not permitted on the training field while dogs are working. By choosing to bring a child to LWDC training or events, the child's parent/guardian has chosen to subject the child to the potential dangers inherent to dog training activities, and assumes all responsibility for the child's safety and conduct.
Club Members are welcome to invite guests to LWDC training sessions. Any guests, regardless of whether they intend to participate or just visit as spectators, may be required to sign a Visitor Waiver of Liability. Club Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests and ensuring that their guests also abide by the LWDC Rules and Regulations.
